our easter

3/30/16

a little recap of easter this year. we celebrated with extended family on friday and i randomly made a needle felted purple turtle while visiting... you never know what's going to happen sometimes ;).

and the main festivities happened on sunday. we had creme brule french toast (my favourite) for breakfast, spent the morning at church, had a really fun pick-your-own take out lunch experience, lounged around most of the afternoon play sims (my guilty pleasure) and enjoyed the warm weather (can't wait for it to stick around more permanently) and finished it off with an awesome ham and scalloped potato dinner.

easter 2016 was a total hit!

friday and saturday

3/29/16

on friday night my sister came over to my place and we had a sleepover! we spent the night doing makeovers, going out for late night food, face masks, watching clueless, and catching up on all the gossip. the next morning we went and started the search for her grad dress with my mom. and on the way back we stopped in for hot chocolate (and tea for my mom) at one of my favourite cafe's. it was the perfect way to start the long weekend!

oh and did i mention that i had an extra long weekend because thrusday was a snow day thanks to a crazy ice storm!! yeah, it was AWESOME!

happy tuesday guys! hope you're having a great start to the week.

the most monday of all mondays

3/21/16

image found on tumblr

hey guys! just a little monday update for you. today was kind of an unproductive day for me, and i hate when that happens! i only got a few hours of sleep last night, and was rushing to pilates this morning (i'm still trying to remind myself why i signed up for 8am class ;)). after making it there 15 minutes late and powering through the session i came home and felt so sick (a classic thing that happens to me when i don't get enough sleep) and ended up falling asleep on the sofa. a few hours later i woke up and felt like my whole day was totally thrown off. what a great way to start the week eh? ;) but besides that there are a few things i want to talk about here:

diet
ok so you guys, i have really been struggling in this area lately. i have been horrible when it comes to eating healthy meals. more often than not i have been reaching for candy or chips or take out for basically all of my meals and it sucks! and i'm definitely paying the price for it now. i feel so sluggish and just off, and i know it's because i've been eating poorly! i know everyone falls off the bandwagon every now and again so i'm trying not to beat myself over it too much, but it is motivating me to make better choices. so i'm going to try to eat homemade healthy meals for the rest of the week and hope that i start to feel a bit better. i'll try to remember to update you on how it goes by friday!

pilates
i know i was complaining about the early start time (which kind of kills me every time i have to get up early) but once i'm there i seriously love it! i'm so glad i was finally able to get connected with it and am proud of myself for sticking to it for a few months now. i'm feeling so much stronger and i think my posture has really improved. it's so encouraging to see and feel those results. (all those early mornings and hard work are worth it!).

subletting
trying to sublet my apartment for the summer has proven to be the most draining thing i've done in a while. the whole process is just so tiring and i can't wait to have everything all sorted out. i'm hoping that i can get it figured out sooner rather than later, but it's not looking too promising yet. i don't know how many more times i can cheerfully show someone around my place after cleaning it for an hour only to hear nothing back.

so that has been a little bit of life lately. also, on a side note, i am so happy that it is officially spring!! although the weather reminds me more of winter (we had a serious snow session this afternoon), i'm so happy to have more daylight in the evening and starting to see some of the spring bulbs start to grow.

hope everyone had a good monday!

how i spent my st. patrick's day

3/17/16

another food picture, i know. but this taco bowl from taco farm is to die for!!! i had lunch here with my friend after sleeping in and waking up to the sound of st. patrick's day music blasting from down the streets. perks of living seconds away from a 5000 person street party ;). anyways, my st. patrick's day this year was surprisingly quiet. usually i am the first one up ready to have some beers and get the day drinking going... but this year i laid pretty low.

i had lunch with em, ran the errands i needed to finish, caught up on the latest nashville episode and spent the evening with my family.

and although it was different from my previous binge-drinking st. patrick's day celebrations,  it was still a really great day!

hope everyone had fun celebrating today! :)

this may be the best thing or the worst

3/17/16

caliburger just opened up around the corner from where i live. i had never heard of it before, but after going this past weekend it's basically exactly like in-n-out. and ever since i've been i've been craving their "califries" which is basically just like the animal style fries from in-n-out. might just have to go there for dinner tonight.....

good morning friends!

3/16/16

hello!

just thought i would jot down a few things about life lately.

- dating is a nightmare. like seriously the worst. within the last two weeks i've had two guys set up dates with me and then stopped responding the next day and it fell through..... like really?!??

- i just finished watching the netflix documentary series "cooked" and now i'm feeling really inspired to start cooking a lot more. i tried making scones last night and they totally didn't work out... but i'm trying!

- i find it funny that the girl who is notoriously bad at math is now filling out tax returns for a living right now

- just realized that st. patrick's day is this thursday and for the first time in a long time i have zero plans as of now

- i started watching friends.... i feel like i'm one of the few people who have never watched the show from start to finish. but after seeing "ross" in the new oj tv show i felt inspired

and those are most of my life updates. hope everyone is having a great week so far! ps. is it just me or does every day feel like a weekend this week? like i swear every time i wake up i swear it's saturday.... and then seconds later i realize i actually have things to do and it kind of sucks.

anyways, talk to you guys soon!

feeling like spring and being nostalgic

3/10/16

also, i feel like this duckling sums up exactly how i am feeling about this warmer weather. like it couldn't be any closer to the the truth.

we have been blessed with some seriously warm weather the last couple of days and i have been loving it! it is so nice to be able to have the windows open and have fresh warm air come in. and being able to go outside without having to layer up with jackets and hats and scarves has been wonderful.

i also have been loving that everyone seems to be outside enjoying the weather! it's just nice to have some positive energy around, and i feel like everyone is always in a better mood when the weather gets nice.

it's also making me weirdly nostalgic for some reason. i keep thinking back to this past summer, and spring from years ago and i just get so excited for it to be hear again! i know that's kind of weird, and hopefully i'm not the only one who thinks that way ;). i just get excited remembering being outside so much more and i can't wait for our days to keep getting longer and longer.

anyways, that's what has been exciting so far this week for me. hope everyone else is having a good week so far :).

tyson’s corner | did we plan a road trip down south around a burger shop….

3/7/16

maybe. and by maybe i mean absolutely we did. when we were in new york a few years ago we went to the infamous shake shack, and i fell in love. and you know what you crave a food and it’s all you can think about until you finally have it? that’s what it’s been like with me and shake shack for the last couple of years.

so when my mom and i decided that we were going to drive down to myrtle beach this spring i thought to myself “hey, wouldn’t it be cool if we could somehow stop in a city that had shake shack?” and of course my mom was on board (bless, i love how we are often on the same page). so one thing lead to another and we booked a hotel in tyson’s corner where they have a shake shack. i honestly know nothing else about the city, other than their great taste in burger shops.

we’re only stopping there for a night, so realistically a good place for dinner (and most likely second dinner, and breakfast if we can squeeze it ;)) is all we need.

so that’s going to be happening in a couple of months and i am SO excited.

i'm always inspired by people who can pull off the "i just grabbed whatever was closest and ran out the door" if only i could look like these girls when i'm getting ready in the morning.

coffee shops.

3/4/16

image found on tumblr

congratulations to everyone because we somehow managed to survive the week. is it just me, or did this week feel like it lasted a million years and also it just kind of sucked all around? i really try not to use this space to vent and be super negative…. but this week was really something else. between midterms and just general school business, and then being in a bit of a funk i was counting down the days until the weekend.

whenever i get a bit stressed with things i often try to get out of the house, even if it’s just for an hour or so. and most times i find myself at dvlb, my favourite coffee shop in waterloo. it’s only a short walk from my place and it’s the perfect place to just hang out. the coffee (and really all the drinks) are to die for and they have a really cozy low key atmosphere.

so anyways, after a week like this i have no shame in admitting that i have been here way more than i have in the last few months combined.

but i mean, you gotta do what you’ve gotta do right?

i hope everyone has a great weekend!!

snapchat

3/3/16

i feel like i've been living under a rock or something but i just recently figured out how to use the snapchat features that have been around for what feels like decades. and i think they are hilarious!!! i know it's kind of overdone... i mean how many people have made the dog faced one their story? i know, i know. but when i'm bored in my apartment late at night i think they're the funniest.

so yeah, that's been the excitement in my life lately ;). happy thursday!

is this acceptable to wear in public?

3/2/16

i feel like the leggings are 5 sizes too big (okay, they definitely are) but i keep wanting to wear them everywhere. but every time i put them on i'm like liz, you can't do this. you looked like you just rolled out of bed. but i kind of want to keep wearing it anyways? i don't know, what do you guys think? hit or miss?
